    Default Range membership

Are there any good ranges in JHB that one can join as a member or similar, that offers members benefits; or is it better to just pitch, pay and shoot?

Also, where are the good ranges in JHB, preferably towards the North of JHB.

    Thanks

I don't know about clubs up your way, but joining a club will mostly depend on how much shooting you are planning on doing. Joining a club will help your licensing / relicensing motivations and if you want to go the DSS route. Besides that its a nice way to meet like minded shooters and you learn alot from guys on the range and you are contributing to the overall running of the club. Targets, patches, repairs, new targets and steel all cost a ton of money.

It's difficult to know exactly where this will end up, but I'm hoping for about 3 hours or so per week.
I've just begun the process for a SD FA, and I'm already thinking I want to buy a second gun soon. Don't tell the Mrs. but this could become my next addiction.

So which clubs can be recommended?

I think the big thing you must decide first is if you want to shoot IPSC or IDPA and then go from there.

I think IDPA for a start.
So perhaps Dave Sheer, or JDPC, any thoughts?

for a S16 license, to take part in SADPA/IPSC, you need to join any range first, afaik.

    Thanks.
I wish I could get shooting already, the waiting is soooo dull.
