Setting your sights

might be a stupid quistion

But what is the best distance to set your site in for IPSC. whats the maximum distance of the targets on a IPSC rannge?

rifle,pistol or shotgun? Rifle the max I have shot is 80m ave 30m. Pistol anything from 5-30m. Shotgun 7-30m ave.

Pistol. last i remembered we shot max 45m but this was 20 years ago

I set my sights that POA = POI at 25m. This I have found covers all the distances ever encountered. Don't have to aim off the A at any distance and 30m half or mini targets are not a problem either.
ETA: the statement only applies to iron sighted pistols havent shot open yet.

Depnding where you shoot, we go out to 200m with rifle.

With my open pistol I zero at 18m.

My rifle is at 50m and maximum distance I've shot with rifle is 100m. Need to aim 3" low at 100m, good compromise for me as less than 1% of shots are at 100m. The rest are between 5m and 75m.

just bought a new OKO red dot sight that i need to set in. i was thinking in the are of 25 meters.
