Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Ive got some 300 gr XTP's, but I dont have S265 as its become rather expensive
Will I be wasting my time with MP200?

Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Howdy Bud, you won't be getting optimum performance using MP 200 on heavy bullets , you probably find yourself down 200 to 300 fps as opposed to using S265, If however you can get some lighter bullets 200 to 250 grainers, you will get much performance, If you like i can pop over and bring you a dozen or so each of 210 and 245 grain cast bullets for you to try. What revolver are you shooting, and what type of shooting are you doing, barrel length.
Maybe the other 44 guys can add to this.

Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Hi African, Do you know what lot no the s265 is, the data is not adding up to what i have unless there is a new batch that is super hot. Quickload is giving me figure that are way low for 44 mag.The loads that Manie are giving are what I am running in my 357 mags.
Could the other quick loadguys please verify this for me, as i am maybe doing something wrong,

Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
MP200 being a faster burning propellant than S265 will guarantee you 100% powder burn percentage and thus virtually zero muzzle flash, but your charge will be considerably less. ( Pressure peaks much quicker than S265 )
If you can give me your COL, barrel length and the exact bullet length ( I have two options for 300gr XTP in Quickload - need to be sure) I can work some figures for you with MP200.

Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Dale thanks a lot, would appreciate your input, to verify mine, QL shows me reaching max pressure at just about 1000 to 1050 fps out of 7.5' barrel plus 43.5 mm of cylinder. With 300 grain XTP crimped in top grove. Mp 200 ofcourse. I am still a QL appie so would appreciate this.
