BAR Browning Automatic Rifle
Just came across Spigg's old thread on BAR's. We had a bunch of them at Field and Stream in the 80's. Probably 20 or more. They were selling for R595.00 with 11 magazines. Had my eyes on an IBM one.Wanted to walk into IBM's head office in Jo'burg and ask for the service dept. Hope you wont burst into tears, sold 2 to an American and had to run a bandsaw through the receivers so that they could get into the States as "demilitarised". This was around the time we were getting crates of 1911a1's selling for R295.00.Those were the days.As a byline, I remember Rod Cohen and Dan Levin having a discussion as to who was going to phone Customs and tell them there was a ton of American reloading powder sitting on a ship in Durban harbour. That powder sold at the inflated price of R13.95 a tin.
