Re: What are your collecting themes?
Here I show you a better closer pic of the items, some have been found while out "hunting" and some have been swopped amongst ourselves.
Here is a pic of the spade that I found from the first pic, as well as the tent peg and railway bolt, the bayenot was swopped with a friend, I gave him a 1902 brass shell from SWA for it.
Meet Debbie happy0065 not sure if I am allowed to post a pic of her here maybe The :police: will be on my back. She is in my office at home, she keeps an eye on things while I am away at work.

Interesting to see what you have been able to recover. I say it is important to recover these historical items and preserve it for generations to come.

Re: What are your collecting themes?
Hi, been rather busy the last few weeks, however a few weeks back, I made up, selected some of my best items that came from The Boer War and mounted them in this display cabnet that I made myself, I then donated it to a school in Molteno and added another framed galss display that explains what each item is, as well as a variety of photo's from the same area, to give back something of our history to the community from where these items were found.
I also donated 600 A 4 jotter books to them as well as a few other items.
You see, it is not always a question of taking, giving to other people is also part of life and now that I have given them these two displays, it shows The Heritage Foundation of South Africa, that some of our history is been preserved and shown to children so that they can benefit from this type of thing.

Hi Carl Egmont
We seem to be in the same situation
I have had no problem with " 22 rimfire firearm " as a theme at Bosveld Wapen & Ammunisie Vereniging in Naboomspruit ( Mookgopong sorry I am not used to that name yet )
I have 3 .22 's a at this point in time.
I have been given a few more including some real beauties that I am prepearing
applications for. Two will go for dedicated sport shooting and the rest a collecters
Any one addicted to .22 ' s will know that there is no other calibre that has this big a
variety of firearms in different action types that fit the theme - I am trying to show
something of this big group in my collection. ( A legit excuse for a nice lot of toys )

Here are my themes
1. American Handguns manufactured by Smith & Wesson and Taurus
2. Remington Firearms
3. Weapons of American Tactical Law Enforcement and Counter Terrorist Units – limited to 1 manufacturer and model combination only
Then I've also applied for a new theme namely "Beretta Firearms" which will be decided on the next meeting to be held in Kimberley. I'm holding thumbs.
However my 3rd theme is my favourite at this stage. Can get a lot of cool toys under that theme.
