Re: BEST GUNSMITH TO THREAD BARREL IN WESTERN CAPE
If it were my gun I'd take it to Ludi Starke, mostly because I met him through silhouettes, YMMV. Also, I'm patient :-)
The Harrison brothers have been around for ages and while I don't know anything about them I also havn't heard anything bad about them so it's a good call.

You can't go wrong with either of them! Around this time of year they do not take any work onto their books so you would have to book it in for next year!

Gunsmith courses in Western Cape
I’m looking at starting a gunsmith training / course. I’m a medical disabled from 2005 and has suddenly realize and awaken my passion for firearms and my trade. I have more time for myself than I need, for this I need to stay busy. I’m also a Tool & Die maker by trade. I just inherited a lath and some workshop tools and equipment. All I need know is to learn the trade.
Can someone please advise me on where and how to proceed.
Thanks
Chris

Re: BEST GUNSMITH TO THREAD BARREL IN WESTERN CAPE
Necroposting a bit here, but I am not sure if the info here is still relevant.
So where can I find a gunsmith around Stellenbosch that can do this? I know the gunsmiths at S&O does this, but they quoted me R1700 for the treading and thread protector if I remember correctly, and that seemed a bit steep, but I have no idea what these things cost, so it might be a good price?

Duitser at Cape Guns and Ammo, aka Elcaprisco. Cheaper and did great job on my dad's two rifles a month ago. They are in Bellville though.
