Keeping record: Buying ammo vs shooting ammo
When you buy ammo/powder, you have to show your licence and it is recorded. Is this information ever used?
When you shoot at a shooting range you log your visit and amount of ammo shot. Well I have only been told to do this 2 out of the 4 times and then also just thumb sucked the amount.
Are these 2 different logs ever correlated? I cant see it happening and if it is how accurate is it actually.?.?
Is the idea there for this to be logged on a central system and then to highlight individuals who buy 300 rounds and only shoot 50?
Shooting on a farm wont be recorded. What about club matches? Traning courses , etc etc?

Not at all.
Range ammo is not always recorded on ammo book. And a lot of the time when it is its booked out to the range not to you.
Only ammo they care about is ammo you not shooting at the range. Ammo you taking home. That gets recorded booked out to you
Even then system still sort of flawed cause you can go pick up 200 rounds at a few different shops.

Re: Keeping record: Buying ammo vs shooting ammo
There are no checks and balances between ammo bought and used. The only way is via a physical check that you don't have more than what you are allowed to have.

Re: Keeping record: Buying ammo vs shooting ammo
Thanks guys, thought as much. Being new to this all I just though these could be linked, but then also realised that a central system for this most likely doesn't exist.
@AfricanShooter: Thats the plan for this year. Joing local club and SADPA in Feb and then just have to do my part. Although I was wondering about applying for the permit to poses more in the interim OR even go the NSA route.

I found NSA to be extremely easy in terms of DSS and I would recommend them
