Re: Best Gun Cleaning Solvent and KIT
No update. No idea. No worries. I'm in love with Slip2000, Froglube can go lubricate something else for all I care!

I used to use Hoppes. My Glocks are a lot cleaner and a lot easier to clean since I started using the Slip products. You can get them from Hailstorm. A bit more expensive, but you use very little. All I use with a bore snake, old tooth brush and a couple of Q-tips.

Re: Best Gun Cleaning Solvent and KIT
Aaah the smell of Hoppes No 9. When I can't get to the range, I sniff the hoppes or a can of MS.
Somewhere I read a chap suggesting normal motor oil as a lubricant. His thinking was that motor oil lasts 15.000 km in an engine doing 2.000 to 5.000 rpm, yet maintains all its desired properties. Interesting.
I start off by liberally spraying any Q20 type solvent (preferably while FA still warm). Leave for 20 min, then start the cleaning cycle - Hoppes, jag, repeat... For lube I used to use Wynnflon, then moved to Break Free. Now use Slick 50 1Lube.
Over the years, colected and tried all sorts, still have tins of Youngs .303 and Parker Hale Express gun oil. Good for lengthy storage, but not for my EDC.

Place a teaspoon of powder in a small foil bowl. Heat it with a lighter from beneath until you see the fumes going. Quickly move the lighter to the top of the foil and let the powder catch fire. Burning is violent and a lot more flash than usual (so stand back and best keep your hand clear of the flames), but produces the most awesome smell. I do it regularly if I miss the range.
