Elderly man protects his home with a .22 revolver
The news paper article is in Afrikaans, but the just of it is that an elderly man defended himself and his wife from a home invasion with a .22 revolver.
Here is however a reminder regarding the effectiveness of the calibre, as after he shot the intruder he was over powered and wounded with his own firearm which was later recovered next to the lifeless body of the suspect.
He is traumatised but recovering in hospital. At least he was armed and defended himself and his family.

Re: Elderly man protects his home with a .22 revolver
Was trying to post this link myself. If the Oom had sufficient firepower he might have avoided being overpowered and shot in the head with his own firearm. At least the attacker got what he deserved in the end.

Bliksem!! I'm just glad he survived and the BG wont target elderly people again. (or any one for that matter)
Oom, I hope your next stop will be a gun shop to trade that .22 rollie in for a real gun and some good SD ammo.
But good on you, good people 1 - bad guys 0.
