done with re-profile! what do u think?

Hi all
please tell me what u think of this new profile i have on my manix 2 Xl as i did receive the knife and the edge was not in the center of the blade and so I re-profiled the blade and got it center had to take a lot of the of the edge and the blade steel is so hard it took me a hole afternoon

but i got there!
I love some advice or even critic is fine as I'm no pro to this and will like to improve!!!!IMG-20130215-00051.jpg

I presume you used a lansky or similar system. Here is a tip to help you get it done faster next time. Cut out strips of sand paper, like 360 or something, into the size of the stone, then super glue it on the stone. Stones clog up way to fast, then they become useless. Once the sand paper also blocks up, pull off and replace. You can use "glass sandpaper" if you want it to last longer. Sandpaper they use for sanding glass... not sure if it has a name. I can get edges better then factory grinds with this system. And will take about 30 mins. I'm about to do one of my knives. Will take a pic before and after. Your looks good. And nice knife. . :)

if Lansky or other entry level set you did damn well!

consider next time going for a much smaller angle and finish up with a microbevel. It's such a mission to reprofile I don't ever stick to anywhere near the factory angles, if I'm putting in so much effort I go straight to 10 or 12 deg per side! I know myself and 15 or 20 deg per side is just going to mean I'm reprofilong again next week!

A trick a lot of people use which is especially needed with entry level sets is to mark the entire edge with a permanent marker. That way you make sure you are consistently hitting the edge at the same angle. If there is any play on the jig or holing mechanism it is near impossible to consistently grind the edge, you end up one stroke at 15 deg, next pass 15.5 next pass 14, next pass 16 degrees etc

its very easy.... just run a lansky at 25degree hole, glue strips of sand paper on any of the stones (stones are a waste of time... super glue a strip of sand paper on, you will quarter your time in doing the job ). trick is to not change anything once started. keep everything exactly the same, untill you see that you have filed down to the very edge of the blade. You cant go less the 25 degrees otherwise you will have this massive edge going up the knife, and weeken the edge which can chip. 25 degrees is the answer for general pocket knifes
