    I don't like the colour but this R1 would be pretty cool for anti-poaching/tree killing

    longer range and better ballistics;
    more energy on impact;
    better penetration.

    better against big animals and big bastards.

    edit: hoooly crap @ that tree! impressive!

    They are primarily intended for Anti Poaching and the need to lay down heavy fire when the need to. Many poachers are equipped with AK47's and stolen high power rifles. The RI is easily able to combat these weapons and as stated the round is more appropriate in the bush than the 5.56mm.

    I worked for Sanparks. Got issued a brand new in grease R1 in 2005. We got two cases of rifles and a load of ammo. I could choose between this or a 30/06 or .458 win as a carry rifle whilst guiding. This was in the kgalagadi where there is only thread from cats. Some of the rifles was used and rough whilst some where new. Some had full auto whilst others just semi. I loved that rifle and used it on all my trips as guide. We also removed handles and sling mounts as you had to carry rifle in the ready position if a lion or leopard charged. Luckily I never fired a shot except during training.
