My favorite Russian AK.
Anna Kournikova of course, come on, what were you guys expecting?
And a close second:
She's a 1962 AKMS, also affectionally known as a Kalashnikov nj , built at Izhmash, the original manufacturer of these rifles. It's in a fairly good condition with all serial numbers intact. The mag's a Tula manufactured bakelite. Surprisingly and contrary to what is said, it's not that uncomfortable to shoot with the wire stock, not that I fired many rounds, but doubt it would affect me with the amount of use it'll get. It's a pleasure to shoot, and although I only shot it at 20m on an indoor range, in was pretty easy to get back on target quickly and follow up shots were quite good. I quite liked the overall weight and balance and the recoil was pretty mild too, not a bad calibre come to think of it.
All in all, a legend of the dark side. grn1
Here's a little quote I quite enjoy about the Izhmash factory:
"as many as 11,3 million rifles and carbines were made for the period of the Second World War, which is more than all German firearm plants taken together (10,3 million). Besides, we mastered the mass production of antitank weapons, aircraft automatic guns, pistols and revolvers. Every day and night IZHMASH used to arm 1 infantry and 1 airbourne divisions. Re: My favorite Russian AK.
I'm interested to find out how many Russian AK's are knocking about SA, please let us know which models you've seen around, or know about. I've got absolutely no idea how many of these there may be.
Sorry, forgot to mention, I'm referring to licensed ones only. ;)"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."

Re: My favorite Russian AK.
I have been told nj that 7,62 AK's will not be licensed for sport shooting in future. Collection may be the only option if you really want one.
