AR application dedicated hunting/sport or ocasional hunting/sport?

Have dedicated sport shooter status and getting my ducks in a row deciding whether or not to license my AR under dedicated hunting/sport (section 16) or occasional hunting/sport (section 15)? To be honest not sure what the difference is. What am I missing here. Would SLR only be granted under section 16?

Precisely. You can't apply for a SLR under section 15 afaik, only section 16.

Understand that but what we saying is that a SLR (Self loading rifle) HMC (Hand machine carbine) will always fall under Section 16

You don't have a choice, it has to be licenced under section 16.

Only under S16, the FCA specifically excludes semi's under S15.

Can also be licenced under section 17 (Private collection) if it fits into your theme.
