    Default AR-15 success due to 'hackability of platform'

    This article from wired.com is a good read - essentially makes the point the the AR-15 and derivatives are so successful in the USA because they can be personalised (the same reason some early cellphones succeeded and others didn't).

    My personal favourite, the pink 'hello kitty' version :)
