    Default Wood identification

    Hi All

I would like to know if anyone can help me identify the wood this shotgun butt is made from.
A good buddy of mine just received a krupp/FN made shotgun that requires a bit of work done on the stock.
Below is a few pictures of the butt. You can see some ham-fisted person got hold of it with self tappers and wood glue to fix it when it cracked in half. I would like to patch this stock up, fill the holes and restore the checkering back to original form but I would like to ID the wood so that I can get a matching grain.

Some help identifying would be most appreciated.

    Cheers

It may be time to consider starting a new stock rather than fixing this one. It looks like a pretty good one to use for a pattern.
