    Default H.E.S.T. Utility/Tactical Knife

H.E.S.T = Hostile Environment Survival Tool

I received this knife recently and feel that I have to say something about it so that others may also have the opportunity to own this fine knife.

It is manufactured by RAT Cutlery Company and designed by adventurer/writer Robert Young Pelton.

IMo this is a very fine, good quality utility tactical knife.

I have carried mine the last couple of days right appendix with a tek-lok clip on the sheath.

The handle does a very good job of accommodating all grip positions especially the draw point grip (= like reverse grip but edge in) which is extremely fast into action from the appendix position - I doubt that there is a faster system into action than a fixed blade set up for draw point appendix carry.

They are currently selling as numbered and signed pieces but once the first 250 have been sold they will go into production and will be sold unnumbered unsigned and with out the Book/Knife deal currently on offer, so the price should come down nicely.

That is indeed a very nice blade.

I am in Cape Town, where can I get one of these and what is the average price I should be expecting?

Thanks for posting this, I have been looking for a good utility knife for everyday carry. Currently I have the CRKT M16-10K compact. Want something a bit bigger too :)

    Khumba,
Do you have HEST Folder in left hand? I read that it is available, but I am not sure if it is a factory option, or just a clip config [the clip looks right hand side only].

DPX told us end of March - end of April.

The left hand model is lh dedicated = mirror image of the rh model.

We are on the list to submit orders once they are ready to take them.

Cerop I think you are referring to the fixed blade, sorry, I was referring to the folder. The fixed blade is not in production but they are planning it but nothing has been set. If need one your best bet is from the USA.

Pivo we do not know yet what the price will be - I am waiting for more info - DPX said yesterday that we can expect more info in 2 weeks time.

No I'm referring to the folder. Sorry, I though you were too.
I saw they aren't in production yet, and thought you are waiting for this to arrive March/April. I don't care much for a fixed blade...
I might get one from the overseas if the opportunity presents itself.
