To be honest though, they are called broadheads for a reason. If you get a decent hit with, I don't think the pig will offer much of a problem to finish off.
I think you might be over estimating the effect of a broadhead on a game animal. I'm not sure how these pigs compare to warthog (I'm guessing similar) but I've tracked several warthog shot by bowhunters and a lot of those animals kept running for a long way, even ones with heart/lung shots. If it's running at you, you might end up being the one getting hurt. They're big, agressive and they bite. Be carefull.

Best laugh all day. "compound bows are for target shooting".

The 600kg Moose I killed last season with my Parker 85lb compound bow would disagree with you.
I lost count of how many Russian boars, big assed pigs, I have killed with it at Lake Granger, Texas.

If you use a cross bow you had better have a Ruger Redhawk .44 as backup.

Yeah luckily that's not what I said.

I have no doubt that compound bows on the whole are stronger than recurve (though the new Excalibur Matrix might have a thing or two to say, 380fps for a recurve!).

What I meant was that recurves are the more rugged, stronger, no hassles bow.

Restringing can be done in the field in about 1 minute.
No moving parts that can break. You can ride over the bow with a 4x4, pick up and fire.

Anyway, not looking for a recurve vs compound debate. They both have their place. My personal preference is recurve.

Hunting pigs with a crossbow is far from new. I used a/ex Horton Blackhawk 200lb with no problems. Same as bowhunting, be extra sure of your shot and don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine.

Sounds awesome. enjoy. my suggestion would be a action camera this might turn out really good. I would not go for heart lung shots pigs are tough. How do arrows fare against skulls and spines?
