    Default Glock Barrel

I recently bought a Glock 19 second gen, on closer inspection it would seem that the previous owner, never cleaned the pistol... Anyway, noticed that is a quite a bit of lead build -up in the barrel...was suggested that I use Gunsmithy Traditional cleaner, anybody here use it...and secondly I was informed to just shoot two full metal jackets and this will remove the lead from the barrel.. Pse advise Thanks

Quite a contraversial topic. Lead vs no lead for Glocks... Personally, I'd clean it very thoroughly before use. I wouldn't go for the 'shoot it till it's clean' approach. This gun was bought for SD right? Rather be on the cautious side then.

Apparently Benzine can also loosen the lead deposits. Wear gloves.

FMJ's will NOT clean lead out the barrel they will simply drive it in deeper and make it harder to clean.

shooting FMJ will not clean your barrel. give it a good clean using lead remover (many brands available) . manu years ago there was product called Lynx Bore Cleaner. you merely wet the barrel and run patches through repeat until patch comes out oiled not soiled. worked brilliantly. Hopes 9 will do the trick but today we have many more products.

those glock barrels are hard and unlikely to be damaged or worse for wear after a good clean.

A .40 bore snake should get in those hard to reach places.

    On a G19? Rather try a 9x19 boresnake.

with lead in a barrel elbow grease with the snake or bristle will remove loose chunks . the bore will look clean but you still need chemical action to strip the lead away.
