Tranter revolver
Hi there, I've got an old Tranter revolver that I might want to let go of, but before I do that I would like to know more or less what value it has. It seems to be a double action only in what I can best see as a 42 Cal. The mechanism cocks but does not reset the trigger. No makers marks except the Tranter patent marks where they should be on the revolver. It is of course a cap and ball and has most of its original finish with very nice engravings. If anyone can help me I would be most appreciated. I could also E-mail some pics if that will help.
Thanks and regards
Mark

Re: Tranter revolver
Tranters are collecting, but have to be in good, original condition. Preferably cased. There are a few models. Of course, with C&B having to be licensed now, the values have dropped a bit. Peter or Craig at Blunderbuss would be your best bet, or consign it on the next Classic Arms auction and hopefully attract a few overseas bids.

Re: Tranter revolver
This is one of the popular(different) collectors handguns for the guys who collect cap and ball guns. Tranter do not always get the recognition he deserved.
Andrew from Classic will be able to give you SA values. On an auction the overseas collectors will probably take it.

Re: Tranter revolver
Its a pity that the foreign market values our collectible firearms more than we do here in SA. I have seen many beautiful firearms leave our country just because we see $ signs.
