Two policemen from Limpopo have been arrested for alleged corruption, extortion and fraud, provincial police said today. A 41-year-old captain from Polokwane was arrested for allegedly selling firearms, meant for destruction and deactivation, to the public, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

"So far three firearms are missing and are believed to have been sold to criminals."

An investigation into missing firearms began after people could not trace weapons they had handed in to the police. The arrested captain was the official in charge of firearms.

"The possibility of more of these firearms being sold cannot be ruled out."

One of the weapons, a vintage firearm given to the police for deactivation, was found registered to a close relative of the captain. The arrested officer would appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court tomorrow on corruption and fraud charges.

Meanwhile in Musina, Constable Dakalo Sitsula, 27, was arrested on Friday after he allegedly robbed a Zimbabwean cigarette smuggler of his cash and illegal supply.

He stopped the smuggler during his patrol. However, instead of taking him to a police station, he took him to a secluded area and allegedly robbed him.

The smuggler reported the matter to the police and picked out the constable from an identity parade. Sitsula appeared in court on Friday on charges of corruption and extortion. He was released on R1000 bail and would appear in court again on June 28.

Limpopo commissioner Lt-Gen Simon Mpembe said corruption would not be tolerated in the police force.

"Anyone who breaks the rules will be caught and punished. Both members should not expect any favours, no matter how embarrassing it may be," he said.

Look I get selling the firearms to criminals...that just makes good business sense if you pawned your moral compass long ago. But giving a collectible firearm to a family member..that just makes me want to punch this f*cker even more.

Even rape victim had similar experience some time ago. They have the badge, transport, training and friends in the right places.
Sorry for the real cops out there, seems they are getting less as they have to retire to make room for new criminal friendly relatives.
