Ok, so my friend says to me that he hasn't renewed his licence/competency ie. He has done NOTHING in respect of his firearm. Says to me that his original licence is valid. Some advice please?

You must understand that we don't know your friend. What original licence? The green type? If so, then he is correct. If it is even before that, ie a licence in his ID, it would still be accepted. If he let his white licence expire, he needs to make a plan.

Yes, its the green card licence. What's the "white licence" ( as u can see, I'm as green as his card)

White license is iSsued under the new act (which requires renewal every 5 years for SD license). All new licenses are issued under this act.

Green licenses, issued prior to the new act (which were supposed to be replaced by the new licenses), as per a recent court case are still 100% legal (and as of yet, do not require renewal).

Tell ur friend that he must relax for now, pending the outcome of the court case. With my little understanding green card are valid for life.
