Tonight, 9 o'clock. He'll be shining from Pretoria, so if you're in Cape Town, look north, in in Durban, look west.

I bought one of these M30's from Khumba about 2 weeks ago.

The first response one has when you switch it on is "holy sh!t", 700 lumens is a lot of light ;D It has a very bright "cool white" light. I find that it really comes into its own when you have a bit of space. I live on a small holding and the M30 really lights things up to around 75 - 100 meters. It is not a dedicated thrower so you cannot focus it for lighting beyond about a 100 meters. (That is not a problem for my application and most people cannot even see that far in the bright of day!)

It is a 3 or 4 cell CR123 light so it is larger than the standard 2 cell tactical lights out there. I already own a Fenix P2D which lives on my belt so I was not too bothered about the larger size light as I wanted something that I can wear in a pocket on my bulletproof vest. If I was looking for a light to carry on me 24/7 I would probably go for the M20 Warrior which is no slouch at 250 lumens in any case! I have attached a photo below to compare the M30's size with some other lights I own. From R-L: 4D cell LED Maglite, M30 (3 cell configuration), LS162 Lightsaver (2xCr123), Fenix P2D (1xCR123) and Glock weapon light (2xCR123).

Battery life from 3xCR123 rechargeable batteries is OK but I understand 2x18650 rechargeable batteries is actually the way to go and I will get a set or 2 when Khumba gets stock. The 2 button switch setup does not take long to get used to and I tend to only use 2 of the 4 output modes. (Rear tailcap button for on and off and side button for strobe)

What I like about the M30:
    - The 700 lumens of paint peeling light
    - The strike bezels at both ends
    - The rings around the head seems to dissipate heat quite well
    - Great light to weight/size ratio
    - The fact that it can take about 4 different types of batteries
    - The steel pocket clip works very well
    - Did I mention the freaking awesome 700 lumens grn1

What I do not like about the M30:
    - The little pouch thingy, WTF?
    - The fact that it does not come standard with a lanyard

So all-in-all I am extremely happy with the M30 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a sh!load of light in a small package.

Lastly I was also very pleased with Khumba's price and service and this makes the M30 an excellent buy in my opinion. tup

    Thanks Rudes.

The little holster thingy is weird is it not?

I found that the light extends well beyond 100m but due to the fact that is not a beam focused light and more of a tactical light it excells at the 10om range for shooting application - it lights up well beyond that for putting light out into the dark.

Ja, I must say Rudes showed me his... M30 t'other night outside a restaurant. I flicked it on and the traffic approaching down the road (so far away I wasn't yet peripherally aware of) started swerving. The heatsink casing looks a little garish but must be necessary to dissipate the heat buildup.

    Gets my vote tup

Wish I could afford a 2000 Lumen Wolfeyes though....

You can get the 2000 lumen lights but they are HID - that means they are not quickly switched on when needed - it needs time to energise. They also do not like being switched on and switched off before energising has been completed and warmed up.

I have one and the the HID's are fantastic but they do not take the place of a high lumen LED tac light.
