Default a bullet proof mind by Lt Col David Grossman

    an absolute must listen
I am studying an awesome brand of leg fighting which was inspired by dung beetles and I think my brand of Kraft Manure is superior to all other styles ever invented. Furthermore I challenge all other manurists to a rolling contest where we shall establish whose manure ball is the biggest! I shall call it Honest Kraft Manure and declare it superior to all other brands of manure and will tell you that I have claimed the lineage directly to Imshi the great Dragon Kru Master Beetler who invented manuring, by gathering all manure from different animals together and making it work as the worlds most effective fertilizer. I proved myself by being members of not one but three super elite special gardening departments who were responsible for spreading manure to combat weed infestations!

    Thanks abhm.
I found some of it quite disturbing, but in a beneficial way -- just kind of expanding my understanding of evil and the situations one might have to face.
Some of it very moving -- when he spoke about that Police chief who's wife calmly called in the medics after he had been shot, I had to duck into a closed office with my coffee at work to recover my composure for some reason.
The effects physically and emotionally are helpful to prepare for. I hope to have some slow motion time in a situation... training, training! Some of it I had read about in Rory Miller's book on Facing Violence, but there was a lot of new stuff.

The combat breathing technique is something I am now incorporating in my training. As well as the visualisations of situations. Did some on the weekend at the range with getting off the X and pushups to failure and then trying to engage targets... doing the breathing thing, not that I was adrenalised, but trying to prepare for experiencing it, and taking command of the body. Miller spoke about trying to focus on the sense of smell to try break out of a "freeze"...

The cost that LE pays psychologically is very high. Respect! I am grateful to the officers and security personal who do this job. I seriously hope I never have to face the kinds of things he talks about, but I am now more determined to prepare to win if I do.
