Default Long Range Steel Challenge Dewetsdorp March 2013 - Feedback

Just a few pictures and videos about our long range steel challenge held beginning March in Dewetsdorp.

Once again Stefanvan graciously provided the venue (and what a fantastic farm to play the long range steel shooting game!) We arrived early Saturday morning and after a quick coffe and rusk proceeded to set-up the shooting range for the day.

Our targets consisted of old empty gas bottles, two steel IPSC dimensions steel plates of 45 x 75cm, an 8 inch and a 12 inch gong. These targets were shot at at ranges between 350 and 1050meters. Shooting positions used were prone on rocks, with bipod and rear bag support. Also seated shooting over a modified camera tripod.

The rifles used were: .260 Remington, .308 (times two) and the Franken-06 (more on that later...)
Here is a shot of the guys attending (once again the Gautengers dropped us liederlik, but luckily the Free Staters came through... lol.

The conditions were great - temp about 30 degrees, humidity 25-35%, wind speed 6-15kph. You can see the tripod mounted camera shaking during the video clips.

Eventually everybody registered hits on the steel at 1040m. Special mention needs to go to Stefanvan - with a .30-06 with a normal non adjustable scope, normal duplex reticle he managed to score hits on the one IPSC plate at 800+ meters. That just by using Kentucky windage and holdover! That takes some doing! Congrats Stefanvan!

Here is a few more pictures and some video clips.

    And now some video clips:
If you check carefully on some of the clips you can see bullet trace. Sorry for the wind noise and the talking in between - I have not had the time to edit the clips formally.

Fixed it for you so the pics show in the thread without navigating to another tab or window to view.

    Thanks GF!

I haven't found the bandwidth to check the videos yet but already I am feeling waaaaaay behind from having missed two shoots.
