Claw 300 gr JFP
Hi guys
i bought some Claw 300gr JFP bonded bullets today for my .44 SBH 7.5"
Any idea what loads i could use for these ?
Want to test for accuracy first and maybe take an Impala with them in June.

Re: Claw 300 gr JFP
Hey 458, I have never loaded jacketed 300 gr bullet , have only loaded 300 GR cast, my data is here,
http://www.gunsite.co.za/forums/show...300-Grain-cast
Maybe this could be of assistance to you back of a grain or so and take it from there.
Where did you purchase your claw bullets.
Cheers

Re: Claw 300 gr JFP
I got them direct from Andre.
He makes them, he is based in EL and post direct to you.
I've used his 458 and 375 with great success and thought i'll give his 44's a chance.
R250 forr 50 (bonded bullets) is not to bad
Thx, i'll try the load and give some feedback

Re: Claw 300 gr JFP
Some info on my load development.
I was using my Ruger SBH 7.5" open sights
Testing was done at 25m using my Cladwell rest
PMP Cases
Winchester Mag Primers
S265
Claw 300gr Bonded Flat Point
TPL 43.5mm
Started at 17gr and worked up to 19.5gr
From 18.5gr I started getting good grouping and it looks like the faster you shoot these Claws the better they group.
Best grouping for the day was 19.5gr with 2 bullets one hole and 1 bullet 3mm away. All at point of aim (finally the sights regulate)
At 19.5gr the recoil wasn't bad at all, brass extract easy and primer show very little flatting.
Recovered 3 of the bullets all with 100% weight retention but with very little mushrooming.
I might be wrong but I think I'm clocking in the 1300 f/sec (did not have a chrony available)
Now let the hunt begin (13-17 June for Impala or Kudu) will post some pics if all goes well
