Treating the steel blade
a friend of mine has been handed a lovely arabian style sword. however, the blade has some "pitting" on the surface. please recommend somebody in JHB who'll be able to treat the steel for us

Re: Treating the steel blade
if it's a "wall-hanger" don't bother.but you can try Sharp Edge in Sandton City, there used to be a guy who worked there, named Shannon, that polished Japanese swords [btw true Japanese swords are polished not sharpened]

Re: Treating the steel blade
it not a wall-hanger. there's apparently some history behind it and its a family heirloom and stuff.
shannon no longer works at sharp edge.
does anyone know if mike taggart can do this? if so, his banking details?

Re: Treating the steel blade
If it's pitted there is not much that can be done if you want to leave the steel bare, the only thing is to stop further corrosion (I'm assuming that is the cause of the pitting).
