13 Licence to possess firearm for self-defence
(4) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.14 Licence to possess restricted firearm for self-defence
(6) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.15 Licence to possess firearm for occasional hunting and sports-shooting
(4) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.16 Licence to possess firearm for dedicated hunting and dedicated sports-shooting
(3) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.16A Licence to possess firearm for professional hunting

I am saying that I will not be surprised to see some of these sections changed in the near future.

The question is concerning the use of a hunting rifle to defend yourself. I would think that it is lawful to defend yourself with whatever you have available at that stage - even if it is your hunting rifle.

I understand that any weapon can be used for self defence, but my question is: If I have a pistol licensed for sport-shooting, may I carry it on a daily basis??
