    Default Pepper spray.

As the title says I am looking for pepper spray to use. I read from older threads that SWAT direct spray is very good. Is there any new stuff on the market that anyone has tested?

I am going to Europe soon and just want to carry it on me when we walk around.

It will be transported in my checked-in luggage.

I would caution you to check whether pepper spray is legal where you intend to travel.

It's regulated in some jurisdictions and prohibited in others.

Where are you going? Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Austria etc is very safe. I always just had a pocket knife. They do not like locking knives or blades over 10cm, though.

Look for Sabre, especially the older blikkies - they contain pepper foam and can be used indoors if really necessary. Taking along pepper spray is ok, but most situations in Europe (as long as you stay out of drug holes etc) can be handled with an aggressive stance and a goeie boereklap. Stay away from russian youths - that's asking for real trouble.

This is not allowed as per Dangerous Goods Regulations, so you'll have to buy (and leave it) there.

Thank you. I have checked this and also their knife carry regulations. There is some restriction on the strength of the pepper spray in Italy, can check that once I have a look at the pepper spray I want to buy.

I heard the "inferno" from cold steel IIRC is real good as its more of a foam type.
Otherwise you won't go wrong with the stream type either. Just my 2c but if you do get the "inferno" also look at getting the neutraliser just in case.

For what its worth: I do not think that there is a single jurisdiction in the world that bans a walking cane.

Or a very sturdy umbrella... can do wonders in the hands of a practiced man. And since weather could be bad in Europe you have very good reason to lug one around.
