Default Grade 10 Pupil shot and killed in home invasion

A Pietermaritzburg family is receiving trauma counselling after their teenage son was shot when he was confronted by an intruder in their home.

Police say 15-year-old Njabulo Ngcobo was shot twice at his home in Imbali in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The police's Joey Jeevan says it is believed the Grade 10 pupil was awakened by his mother when their home's alarm went off.

She says he was attacked when he went to see what had triggered the alarm.

"He went to the lounge to investigate [and] was confronted by an unknown armed man. It's believed that the man immediately fired one shot at the 15-year-old, hitting him in the chest. [The intruder then] began to flee.
"The youngster continued to pursue the suspect out of the house when the suspect turned around and fired another shot at him, fatally wounding him," she said.

The teenager's school, Maritzburg College, has flown its flags at half-mast today to pay tribute to Ngcobo.

Take the firearms to be destroyed and teach mother with children to use them properly.
