FA Storage... Advice Needed...
Hi all... Just need so advise... I have a rifle safe... And its currently mounted on the inside of my cupboard...
Just wanted to know... Becuause we keep the heater on the entire night... We also have a humidifier that stays on so the air does not dry...
In time to come would the humidity not seep into my safe and cause rust to my FA...
Thanks...

Talk about 1st world problems :)
I would doubt that it would affect the guns in the safe if they are looked after as they should be. You can put some silica gel sachets in the safe if you are concerned.

If you are worried about it, put a bunch of silica gel bags (the ones you get in a shoe box or comes with pills) inside the safe. Rice also works to suck up the moisture.

It depends on where you live and what FA's you have. At the coast, you need good precautions due to salt in the air etc. Using a humidifier would only worsen an existing problem. If you live in the Karoo or Kalahari, you have much less to worry about. Stainless FA's is also much less of a problem.

If you can find some craft shop that sells the stuff to dry flowers (real flowers) they will usually have it at a much cheaper price than anyone who sells it for gun-related projects will. I have not checked but I am pretty sure you could order it in bulk. Also, you can install a low wattage light bulb that will do the same thing.

If you look in thecleaning isle of supermarkets you can find a dehumidifier tub thing. It has the silica beads in a tops section and an empty bottom tub, all the moisturepools below and the dry beads stay up top. each lasts about 6 weeks iirc. It is quite cheap and you get scented variants.

Spray and wipe the rifle with Fluid Film. It is truly brilliant stuff. Bit more pricey than normal oils.
But it makes a layer over the metal. That does not come off easily. And will protect far longer than anything else.
