    Default collectors competency?????

    hi
    my application since jan 2013 30th still awaiting approval
    told today i need a collectors competency???????
    never heard of it and not advised by it by my collectors assocaition
    is there anything like this ????
    i have my collectors certificate up to date since 2007
    my theme approved and fire arm also approve dunder the theme
    advised by john beare
    at lowveld jagters collectors assoc.
    any info please share

    Get your collectors club as well as a lawyer (yours/theirs) to join the fight. I think it is a mistake on behalf of the CFR. Certified collectors are not supposed to have these problems. Maybe it was just a petty mistake, like the DFO or the CFR losing some of your papers.

    You have to be categorised as a collector and you get a competency with class A/B/C indicated.

    Why, Idunno.

    Mine was handled at the same time as my apps, first for my class C stuff and later when I applied for licences for semi-auto long guns they updated it to B. If you have a collectors' certificate that should be all it takes.

    All collectors must have a collectors competency from the Police, apart from handgun, shotgun, rifle, slr.
    Fill in form E517 (competency) and send to you local DFO before applying for a license for S17 (private collection)

    Your collector's association should have mentioned it to you when you were approved.

    You need to apply for a "further competency to collect."

    Does one require separate slr competency
    thank you all for iinfo I applied for 2firearms 1 was approved in 6 weeks - a lever action 357mag and the second is a mossberg .22 715T semi auto which is under consideration 6 months
    i have competency for shotgun handgun and rifle
