Concerning trend in SA crime - Fake flying squad police vehicles used in SA crime
http://www.carforums.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=62407
Consider.
What it took to set up this car
How many people had to be involved to falsify the flying squad insignia and to fit it to the car.
What type of criminal would go to this length...
A house was rented to hide the vehicle.
Where did they get the tracker device from
Who made the authentic decals and the number plates?
Or how was it stolen?
Who drove this car?
Were they connected to the SAPS in any way?
What if they were?
And how will you ever know a real police officer is standing in front of you - he may actually just be a criminal in a police uniform with fake a flying squad Golf GTS and a gun...about to shoot you.
Kudos for people and SAPS working together to get this one... but how many more of these aren't out there ...

"The cop impersonators were also in possession of a police-issue - but unlicensed - pair of handguns, and a rifle."
A good starting point would be to establish at which station these originated...
Maybe mods should move this here:

Even worse is the fact that the Police, have not advised how to deal with these situations. The average man on the streets will just become another victim.

it's probably easier to just steal a legit flying squad car and hide it.

Don't worry... it's only THE SECOND TIME that particular cop has seen anything like this!
So this is NOT an isolated occurrence."Always remember to pillage before you burn"
