My son took this this weekend on his 13th birthday. Not the first one he has shot, not the biggest one either, but a really nice way to celebrate his birthday.

Hmmm...hog steaks

We left this one for the coyotes. It was very warm-mid 80's over nite and we are a long way from the processor. This pig was about 225-250 lbs, a boar. For eating I really prefer a sow in the 150-200 lb range. This hog was a tough, old, fighter. If you look closely you can see that he has a pretty good gash on his front leg and his rear leg. It wasn't fresh but maybe a week old or so.....

Son shoots a CZ 527 in 7.62x39. He has killed many hogs and several deer with that little rifle, we use the Russian Barnaul 154 grain soft points. Never had a hog or deer go very far.... He will remember this birthday a long time.....Glad it all came together.
