so i have just handed in both my comp and licence application today

now the wait has started and it all ready feels too long lol

what is the complete overall wait guys?

And it's not going to get any easier either ( the wait I mean :p )

Handed mine in end Sept 2012 and received my card end Jan 2013. Bare in mind the festive season slowed things down a bit. So +- 4 months.

I think stark were on the same page. Handed---- 07-05-2013. Comp Approve--- two weeks back I forget the date. Firearm license receive --11-07-2013.

40calboy, Im in the same boat as you man. I handed mine in THursday the 29th of August. Got a sms on Friday the 30th that my application is receiving attention by the DFO. If I am not mistaking, from the local DFO, where it gets captured, it gets handed over to the provincial DFO after that where it takes the most time.

My local DFO advised me that, at this stage, I can expect three months wait for competency and about a month for the Firearms application.

Mine arrived at provincial on the Thursday and cfr on the Monday. All they do is check that everything looks okay before it goes to CFR. Mine was received the 15th July for competency and is currently under consideration. So Hoping for it to be finished in a week or 2. So 2 months total. But it's mostly luck of the draw, some people get it through quicker,some longer.

do i keep in contact with my local dfo to traack or do i just sit and hope?

Once the DFO sends it through - Could take 2 days, could take a few more (I waited 13 days to arrive at CFR). Then you can phone CFR whenever you like (They operate 24hrs on their call service) and they will tell you what stage it is. Number is 012 353 6111. Remember to ask specifically about either competency or licence as their system doesn't show it together.

I try calling once a week on a Friday to see if it has moved.

Don't even sit and hope.Just forget about it,lol.Mine is in consideration for 5 weeks now.
