    Default Probably a stupid question....

As stared above, I bought myself a very nice CRKT M21-14SFG.

So here goes my question. Why would you want to carry the knife upside down. Clip switched around so that the knife blade will face upwards once it is in your pocket. I fail to see any advantage to carry that way.

    You mean tip-up?

Otherwise the wave function won't work.

It is important with this knife especially because when carrying tip-up, it works as a wave function.

What I mean is, once is folded in our pocket the knife tip will face down to the ground. I am on my mobile and can't place pics or view videos. I'm currently carrying it with the tip facing upwards, so once I pull the knife out my pocket it opens up.

So what I'm asking is why would you carry it so that the tip faces downwards.

Oh. No I don't see any advantage to that. But some people prefer it. Generally lower priced knives are all made to carry tip down, which is weird.

If you following the link below and read many opinions you will realise that there is no right or wrong answer, but merely preference.

Thanks for the replies all. Know I have the correct wording to google, was googeling upside down knife carrying #Fail.

    Tip up vs Tip Down.

It gets discussed quite a lot with many people telling that tip up or tip down has opened in their pocket. There simply is not one clear winner and comes down to what you feel comfortable with.

Some designs however lend themselves better to one option above another though. For example, a Axis lock/Ball Bearing lock and wave type feature lends themselves more towards tip up due to their design. The Spyderco Military lends itself more towards tip down due to its design for gloved hands.

Here was a video I did some time ago. The gloves one uses even impacts on the ability to pull a knife from your pocket.

Might I ask why you decided on the CRKT? They're really awesome knives (I EDC a small one now myself), but I (personally, only my opinion) found specifically the M16 to M21 range to be a bit disappointing for the price.
