Just tried that but didn't work. Are you able to open Tapatalk via email links?

Honestly, I've never tried to open any links via email, so don't know.

In my experience links via email to tapatalk can't work. The phone os has no way to know that certain browser links should be opened with another app.

It works with other forums on my S4...
For example with the mybroadband forum I can click a link to a thread and it will open directly in Tapatalk. The first time I did it, it asks how you want to open the link, I just chose Tapatalk and said "Always". When opening gunsite links it doesn't give the option to open with Tapatalk, only using the various browsers I have on my phone...

    Mybroadband: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthre...4?goto=newpost

    Gunsite: http://www.gunsite.co.za/forums/show...e&goto=newpost

Could it be the "vb" of Mybroadband as opposed to the the "forums" of Gunsite.

I'll shed more light on this tonight, I've got some info, but am limited to my phone for the day as I'm not in the office.

Okay, here's examples of various forums:

MyBroadband - click link in email, Tapatalk opens immediately as default:

XDA - click link in email, Tapatalk opens immediately as default:

Gunsite - click link in email, browser opens first, with an option to open in Tapatalk by clicking another link (this is a step closer, previous to the API being updated, it would only load browser, no option to open Tapatalk):

I'm not sure why it's doing this only on Gunsite, but I am installing vBulletin v4.2.1 onto one of my servers and am going to test the Tapatalk API and try find a reason.
