Please help ID military knife
Hi all, Ive had this knife for quite some time but have failed to find any information about it, Iv looked everywhere but unfortunately came up with nothing. The knife as well as it's scabbard bears no markings and the only information I can provide is that it was originally bought in Saldanha. So if anyone has any info to share it will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Please help ID military knife
Hello Slaaibak, it does look very similar to the M3 fighting knife, but there are quite a few striking differences between the two. The first and most obvious is the that the grip is plastic unlike the leather grip found on the M3, another point is that that the scabbard doesn't match (assuming its the original scabbard) and as you know the yanks really like to place a mother load of markings on their gear . There are more differences but i dont want bore anyone......

Re: Please help ID military knife
Very nice morneg, yours is in much better condition. I found this on the net (http://www.linder.de/pics/products/_...00109_zoom.jpg) it looks strikingly familiar, well besides the fact that the picture is of a bayonet, but both blades shape, length and grip seem to match. The scabbard also bares a few familiar characteristics.

Re: Please help ID military knife
Thanks. That's basically the same pictures I found. As Ikor said, they were made by the thousands and also copied by many countries. I found a website (can't remember the name)with lots of different variants all except what we have i.e. plastic handle and no locking lug.
