Is Russian Mil Surplus Ammo available in SA?

Anyone know if 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 is available in SA and prices? I know this stuff seems to be really cheap in the US.

Also what about stuff like the wolf line. Seems really cheap in the states. Non reloadable but at the right price that isnt the end of the world especially for most shooters who dont reload.

BigT, you have a point about the Wolf stuff, it does seem rather cheap in the US and gets loads of publicity. Maybe we should go visit them. ;D

I understand wolf to be russian and therefor not privi but I could be wrong.

'Wolf' is a Russian company...actually an ammo 'clearing house'... but they procure ammo from several different sources. Most of their steel case ammo ammunition is, indeed, made in Russia but the brass case Privi is not, nor are their shotshells (Germany). They also have some other calibers available in their 'Gold' line not made in Russia. The 5.45x39 surplus stuff is all military and is not sold by Wolf or Barnhaul. Some is Russian and the later stuff is from other ex-USSR countries. It is all very good stuff but may be slightly corrosive, as the Russkies still use corrosive primers and steel jackets for most military ammunition. The Wolf ammo is new production, slightly lower in velocity and does not have the steel 'kicker' inside the jacket that improves the performance of this little round. nor does it have a steel jacket.

I just paged through some of my old stuff and found a brochure from AHS and on this it indicated that they had some privi ammo. Could not determine how old the the brochure was, but it must have been within the past 3 years as I did some business with them in this period of time.
