Default Foiled Kidnapping Sunningdale (W. Cape)

Information coming through from the Neighbourhood Watch.

    Summary:
Taxi leaving BuildersWarehouse area in Sunningdale, guy sees a girl screaming for help in the taxi while vehicle is turning around, guy gives chase, can't overtake due to heavy trailer. Woman who sees proceedings overtakes both vehicles, cuts in front of taxi and stops it, trailer guy block taxi from reversing. Girl screaming. Trailer guy asks taxi guys (x2) to let her out, they refuse. Trailer guy has a pick handle, smashes side windows and front window, cut off lady puts hand in, unlocks taxi opens door pulls girl out. Taxi guys run from trailer/pick handle guy. Girl taken to security very shaken and left with security at B. Warehouse.
Taxi guys return and go into taxi and pull out "weapons" (unclear what) cut off lady flees, pick handle guy feels he is out of his depth now and gets in his car and drives to SAPS Tableview, followed by taxi guys. He goes in and explains, and here's where it gets weird.
Cops say "it has nothing to do with them - they can't assist" By this time taxi boss arrives (called by taxi guys) and lays charges against pick handle guy for damage to his taxi, saying he must pay for windows. Police back taxi boss and make pick handle guy settle with cash. He does.

At this stage, I am trying to get clarity on further details and will post here when I have more.

Jeez! This is too close to home! I live near there and most probably would have tried to do the same!

Sjor! Where was the girl when they got to the station? Surely they should have gotten her side of the story as well?!?!

I have (sadly) had the same experience with SAPS the last few years.
They will take a statement (just about) but couldn't be bothered to step outside the station to investigate...

An people still wonder why we are losing faith in the ones that are supposed to protect us?!?

Yes, there are still good guys in SAPS... but they are being rapidly outnumbered by the could-not-care-less and could-not-give-a-fucks

God bless pick-handle guy and blocked-off lady for getting involved.

But I refuse to believe that this is a case of the taxi boss running the police there – there’s something missing out of the story and the guy should go lay a complaint with the IPID.

No matter how many good cops we have in the SAPS, they will make little real impression on crime because the Force as a whole is so badly led and nobody respects them. I feel sorry for these good cops and thank them for their efforts and the small differences they make by their actions, but as a whole the SAPS is stuffed and cannot be taken seriously.

The feedback I have on this issue was that the guys in the taxi were "just taking the girl somewhere else" as it was not legal to stop on the road they were on, the girl was not happy about it and started screaming, then they were were attacked.

Now I personally don't know of too many taxi drivers who give a continental shit where or when they stop on any road in Tableview. But maybe this guy was a model citizen. The issue seems to have been dropped, no charges and Mr Pickhandle has paid Mr Taxi for the damage, Mr Taxi has agreed not to press charges. It's all a bit odd.
