.22lr Rifle buying advice needed.

Bought my son the Marlin xt22 end of last year at Zimbi, bliksem what fun this rifle is. There has not been nearly a afternoon that I take it to the shed to discuss some issues with the rats and the animals food. If the rats are a bit scared well the oranges in the orchard on the trees pay a price. I am not of the opinion that it is the best .22 but for the money I spent it must be the best ever, period. It is very accurate wit CCI ammo. It also feels substantial and nowhere does it appear that corners were cut during manufacturing. Oh it has the best trigger of the .22 rifles out there and a lekker 7rnd mag. I really like it and it is my go to rifle in the safe.

Had a look at a new CZ, second hand Brno and a new Mossberg Plinkster at a local gun shop. The Mossberg feels less "solid" than the CZ/Bruno. The bolt and safety on the CZ and the Brno looked identical. I was impressed by the Bruno.

Glad that I am not the only one suffering since seeing that pic!

@the OP: CZs and BRNOs are the same rifles, from the same company (more or less)...just the old name was BRNO and the new name is CZ. Both are good - I have had a BRNO for 30yrs now and I am still as happy as the teenager that bought it with saved-up pocket money, 30yrs ago!

Visited an another shop and was able to look at a couple of .22. The new CZ's was really nice but priced outside what I am prepared to pay for a .22. The Marlin xt-22 really empress me. There was two second hand Krico's. The one was a bit worn but they both well made rifles. Unfortunately they did not have magazines. I am developing a soft spot for these old German rifles. Also look at a couple of older hard worked rifle but non was great.

So new I would say the Marlin is the one I go for. Still need to look at the Savage.

Second hand it is between the Brno an Krico. It looks like it is easier to get mags for the Brno.
