WATER FOR CAMPING
I am going to the Kalahari for three days with four people. We need to take our own drinking water. How many liters do you think I need to take.
Regards,
Richard

Re: WATER FOR CAMPING
There are no clear and scientific rules of how much water you need. I normally (for drinking water only) take 5l per person per day. And I pack for at least an extra two days.
But only you will know how much water you need ... it does vary from person to person and, of course, the conditions. If you are sitting in an airconditioned car, you will use less.
It would be best to speak to people that have done the same/similar trip before. It may get bloody hot out there now.

Re: WATER FOR CAMPING
On the Sas bushweekend we did in march I consumed 7ltrs per day, we did a lot of walking and it was hot, you can never have enough water, I think the advise given by Proudprado is sound.

Water is like ammo, when you think you have enough, add some more.

Re: WATER FOR CAMPING
Carry approx 5L p/person p/day. If you have space take more. When you have water available for resup, fill up used containers. Not sure where you are heading, but also advise people of your route and when you will be back. Water is never heavy in the desert.

Re: WATER FOR CAMPING
Water for camping(like the heading) is a lot different than water for drinking. Without us knowing how and where you're going to camp estimating is dangerous.

Re: WATER FOR CAMPING
When we travel in the Kgalagadi it is 5 liters drinking water per person per day, 40 liters for face wipe & basics and in case radiator springs leak 15 Liters extra.
