Gas Rams for springers
Anybody know where one can buy a gas ram to replace the spring in a springer? I have a Game CF20 (awesome gun) and I hear that these gas rams are streets ahead of the springs ito power and shot to shot velocity.

Not locally,
I had one, won't recommend it though. Cost is to high and a decent spring kit will be cheaper and just as consistant.
Mine was fitted to a BSA lightning, it gave the same power output as the spring but made the rifle more difficult to cock. The recoil characteristics also changes, not for the worst or best but it does change.
This is me shooting the BSA lightning. Very accurate rifle.

Re: Gas Rams for springers
Thanks for all the advice on the struts. I'll look at them later on. Meanwhile, I installed a new spring and washer on the CF20. (Bought gun from an estate: seems to have been left loaded (cocked) for a number of years) Open sights, off a bench @ 10 meters, I'm now getting a ragged hole; shot for shot. (Using standard Marksman round head pellets) Report is low, probably due to the new washer sealing better. Still to check speed though. Now a question: I wiped the tube inside, but did not de grease it; the piston and the washer and installed it dry, but still get some smoke and the dieseling smell. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Gas Rams for springers
And Vincent's gas-rams have a life time guarantee. Well worth the cost. Only a grand or so.

Vincent aka Mze on this forum is a fundi with gasrams. He will tell you that it does not give you more wallop but gives you more consistency and way less recoil and vibrations. He fitted one to my Gamo CFX and it makes the world of difference.
