Re: S&W M&P 15-22
OTOH...and especially given the quality of the M&P15-22's...the opposite theory is that you simply cannot pay too MUCH for a high quality .22lr. You will likely keep it your whole life, teach your kids and, quite probably, THEIR kids to shoot with it, use it as a vermin slayer on the farm or in the veld, shoot competition with it, plink on lazy days with it, and eventually, given some maintenance, pass it on to the next generation. Where else ya gonna get that sort of long term love for R10,000 or so?Run Fast, Bite Hard!

Re: S&W M&P 15-22
the best joke ever told: "15-22 will save you money on 223 ammo"
it's a perfectly valid justification to buy it and defend it to other people.... but come now, let's be honest. it's a hungry beast ;)

Re: S&W M&P 15-22
If you do not race from traffic light to traffic light you will save fuel - Yes?
If you go to the range with a plan to train and not play you will save a huge load of money on ammo compared to doing the same work-out on 5,56.
If you play with 5,56 it will cost you about 6 times more than with 22.
To play or not to play is under your direct control.

Re: S&W M&P 15-22
I might be wrong, but I will never see the 15-22 as a replacement for a "real" AR,but I regard it as a fun plinker and I believe the IPSC minigun class will pick up once guys see how much fun these .22's are.

Re: S&W M&P 15-22
You are wrong imo.
The 15/22 is a serious training aid and AR15 under study.
It will make a formidable house defence gun for people less inclined to easily handle the robust nature of a full fledged AR - no recoil with the ability to place fast follow up shots in small area rapidly, low noise, ligh weight and all the other attributes of the AR platform.
