Could you give us noobs a breakdown of what barrel length is used for what ranges/sporting disciplines/SHTF scenarios?

20" is a 6mm ARC for PRS or long range shooting with a gas gun
16" is a 5.56 which is my main IPSC gun
10.3" is a 300blk because out short barrels its more efficient than 5.56 use it for IPSC too, but only really in club matches

This is a scoped Sudanese contract AR10, mostly anyway. About 1900 of these guns were shipped from Holland to the Sudan back in 1959. About a hundred of them were scoped, having a unique integral carry handle mount. The lower receiver on this particular gun is a semi auto replacement unit made in 1983 in order to be unregulated in the USA. The scope on this gun was made for a Dutch FAL rifle although it is mechanically identical to the original AR10 scopes. It seems that all of the scopes shipped to Sudan in 1959 remained in Africa after the rifles were sold back into the international market.

Many of the Sudanese AR10s had bipod legs attached the the front sight base. All of the bipod legs remained in Africa, probably in a big crate next the one labelled "scopes".

iirc they were also issued to certain Portuguese units and saw action in Angola and Burkina Faso maybe.

My brother asked me to refinish his airsoft AR with kal-gard last week.

Even though it is an airsoft gun I wanted to show off how well it came out.

I may do my Sig m400 in a similar way soon.

Thanks. Picked it up from Bellum Arcus. Its the Aero Precision Atlas R One. Very happy with it. If you find one, make sure you've got the vice block and a armourers wrench. Took about 2hours of surgery to swap out.

The problem I have is my 300BLK is not a typical length, looking for an 8inch long forend is proving to be a battle
