    Default Cold steel or Benchmade?

Its that time again for me. I need to buy a new knife "sommer net".

Now I have narrowed it down to 3 knives that I want to get but I am not entirely sure which one.

I have wanted a BM bedlam for a long time now. They look bad ass and very intimidating and also collectable (like they will hold their value over time).

As I was browsing I came across the Cold Steel Voyager XL. For the price of the bedlam I can get both the Clip point and the Tanto or I can save money and just get one (Clip point or Tanto?).

I wanted to get some input from guys that have owned these knives especially the bedlam, on how well they hold their value and their edge.

My use for it would be as a collectors item, now and then use of the knife and also to carry around when I feel like it.

All input would be greatly appreciated.

You cant compare a cold steel to a benchmade.

    That's just insulting.

And a cols steel will be AUS8. Meaning it takes a edge fast, but looses it even faster. Aus8 is soft.
If holding a edge is important to you don't ever consider buying anything in AUS8.

None of he knives you mention are collectable.
Just saying, don't mean it in any rude way!

I am a huge BM fan and would buy any one of their knives in a heartbeat if they were not so expensive. I just wanted some input while I ponder my decision. I am still leaning towards the BM but for the price of the Voyager I can just as well get 2 of those.

It just seemed that the Bedlams were hard to find and if they are discontinued in the future there might still be a market for them.

What would you sugest if I say I have a budget of about R2500 and want to get a big folder?

If the BM is too expensive rather go into the entry level spydies. They use cr12mov which will hold an edge much better than any cold steel.

    Spydie Military bar none.
At 2500 you could get one. Once you have one you will never want anything else again.
It is the best folder ever created in my opinion and are generally available locally in S30V which is a nice premium steel.

I just got the CS VoyagerXL with the Tanto blade, but to be honest its won't be doing any hard work. There are probably alot better options if you want a working knife.

Pendragon is selling a CS Espada if that floats your boat. For a working knife i like my Spyderco's.
