EDC kniveselection post Dangers Weapons Act?

I have been EBC carrying a Spyderco Matriarch for about 15 years.

I hear the new Dangerous Weapons Act will kick in January and what I have read does not bod well. The Act is written very vaguely and open to interpretation/abuse.

Carrying something like the Matriarch that was designed as a weapon may become a legal liability. I have been thinking that it may be better to change my EBC knife to something less intimidating and preferable designed as an utility knife. this may give one some more room to maneuver in.

Is there anybody else considering changing their EDC knife?

Oh yes. I've also got doubts about its constitutionality and I raised them during the commentary process. Some of my comments were taken into account and the Act adjusted but not enough unfortunately. The previous draft was scrapped when I pointed out that it contravened the principle of legality.

I will continue to edc my Matriach or Civilian! "It's perfect for downward pulling cuts like opening charcoal bags or cases of cooldrinks Mr Oficer"!

i don't see it being enforced in my day to day life as long as I am a law abiding citezen. I could be wrong though, wouldn't be pleasant to have my civilian confiscated!

I will also continue to EDC my CRKT/ELAN/Spyderco if it comes down to it my excuse for most of the "Dangerous Weapons" I have on me, or in my car is I'm a Paramedic on 24hour standby. Hoping that helps.

Was thinking of something like the Spyderco Ambitious. Maybe I am only using it as a excuse to get another Spyderco.

For the time being I might switch to my Spyderco Meerkat.

I've only really taken a glance at this act, but does it simply mean that, as long as you don't look like you're going to hurt anyone while carrying you "dangerous weapon", you're ok to carry it?

That's how I understand it, may be there more for riot control aspects IMO!
