Help needed with old knife
I got this knife from my dad. I think it was his dad's or grandfather's. Unfortunately it's in quite a bad state, broken blade etc.
Anyone know if it has some value or if it would be possible to replace the blades?

Isn't it a Paul Kruger pocket knife?
The Paul kruger knives are collectables..

Re: Help needed with old knife
I would take it to a knife expert for an evaluation, but I wouldn't replace the blade, rather keep it in its original state and put it somewhere safe and buy a new knife.
Im sure someone on the site can point you in the right direction, with regards to the right person to value your specific knife.
IMHO it would be sacralidge to fiddle with your knife, rather keep it original and pass it down to your kids albeit in the state it is, but I do think it is pretty though!

Re: Help needed with old knife
In the late 80's there was a re-run in Germany of these knives along with a "van Riebek" and later an illegal run of Hitler knives , celebrating his 100th birthday.
The knives I have, are neatly stamped " INOX" and below "Solingen Germany"
Looks like you have an original there, wouldn't attempt to repair it
See I forgot to turn the Kruger knife, but it has the same stamping as yours on the other side.

Re: Help needed with old knife
Thanks guys, yeah I think mine might be older than the 80's models.
I wouldn't fiddle with the blades then. would it also be a bad idea to try and clean it up a bit?
Otherwise I'll just leave it as it is in the safe.

Cleaning is the worst thing you can do unless you are a professional restorer. You'll damage any value it has.

Thanks, I contacted Mike, he also recommended that I rather keep the knife in it's current state.
I did see some guys are selling similar knifes of BidorBuy for around R650.
