Default My new Al Mar EDC, thanks to baboo19!

I recently sold some knives in a bundle to buy myself a new EDC whicb I had been eyeing for a while. Baboo19 jumped right in and helped me out. Now I got me a new EDC.

The brand is Al Mar. For those not familiar with Al Mar, it is an American based knife company whose knives are hand finished and sharpened and made in Seki City, Japan. That is not all, as they strivento make some of the best knives, their knives are made in a forge in Seki City which is a 1000 years sold.

Anyways, I bought the Al Mar Sere 2000. It is a folder, made to replace the Sere Operator fixed blade combat knife for those who wanted something similar to the fixed blade but who wanted it to be smaller.

The blade is VG10, with stainless steel liners and G10 handles. What I like about Al Mar knives is the fact that they only have a few knives that they make. They don't have so many designs like Spyderco or Kershaw etc, and they work on improving the one's they do make.

Al Mar was a Vietnam Veteran. After the war he studied design of some sort and ended up designing knives at Gerber. He soon became the chief designer at Gerber. In 1987, he left Gerber to start his own knife company. Al Mar later passed away, but his brand and designs and company carries on.

I previously EDC'd a hand made knife from Trevor Burger.

It is an LEXK. Bohler N690 stainless steel blade, with titanium liners and carbon fibre handles. The other finishes are 303 stainless steel. It is a light, strong and beautiful knife, however I don't like using it where it might scratch.

So always wanting a big folder and one which I will use as it was intended to be used, i got the Sere 2000.

I will upload more pics soon..my battery is dying..

That is the full size or regular Sere. It is actually quite big and weighty.. In my hand, the photo is taken at an angle with knife away from me so look smaller. That is why I posted the pic with my G23 so that you can see the size in comparison. Also the first two pics are with a Savanah bottle in the picture, also to help add size perspective.

There are 2 more Sere's available at the shop I mentioned. One with black handle, and black ceramic coated blade and one with a digi camo handle and clean blade. They also have the mini in stock.. The mini is very nice but too small for heavy duty work. However for light or small tasks it is excellent. Also it does not pull your pants down :P

Price wise, they are 300/400 apart, so I was like meh, take the big one
