Re: Steel Challenge
I'm not the expert but here goes.
There are 8 stages in total. These are the same internationally.
You shoot each stage 5 times and the best 4 times goes for score. (shotgun is less)
each stage has 5 targets.
As long as you hit the plates(steel) it is a hit. No point scoring. It's either hit or miss.
You can shoot in any order as long as you shoot the stop plate last (red pole)
You can fill in as much as you need to, until you shoot the stop plate then it's over.
You have to shoot the stop plate to stop the timer.
There are various category's for pistols, revolvers .22 etc.
Bring lots of ammo, have fun

Re: Steel Challenge
Don't have to be a member no... Pitch up, pay, and shoot.
The calendar is on the website, www.steelchallenge.co.za.
First 2014 shoot is on 23 Feb. If I'm able to attend you're more than welcome to shoot in my detail. I've only done it once before so I'm also a complete noob at it, but I at least understand the rules and the safety principles.

Re: Steel Challenge
The other gun should be secured or under your control(you carry it) or have it in your bag.
Most people bring what they will use.

Re: Steel Challenge
Keep it in the range bag. If you need to take it out, there is a safety area where you can do so.
Let's chat closer to the time. It might be a good idea for you to meet me, (or whoelse can help on the day) at the safety area so we can take you through all the safety issues before you take out a gun at the range. Should put you more at ease as well.
Look at Youtube videos of IPSC, Steel Challenge and IDPA shoots to see the safety stuff.
For instance, your gun will be holstered and completely unloaded at all times (magazine removed as well), unless you are on the shooting line under the supervision of a range officer. Before you leave the line after your turn, you will be asked to unload and holster the gun again. You don't remove it from the holster again unless told to do so on the shooting line, or in the safety area at the range entrance.Sent electronically, thus not signed.
