Frightening shit! Bottom line, they are probably already collecting you data and if you think this applies only to Americans, you are making a serous mistake.

Should be for especially interesting for the snarky apple owners, especially those with iPhones

Thinking this is limited to Apple is also a mistake :p - It probably just more of a shock as Apple's iOS software was regarded as "safe" and not affected by malware or spyware. All phone platforms are probably compromised. The other issue as well is that the NSA can intercept your network traffic at the ISP as well if they wanted to - thus emails -stored locally (or just use their backdoor on any other mainstream US mail provider) /pages visited or to gain access to your windows machine.

Their reach currently is all encompassing - even RSA crypto keys aint any help these days.

Think about how they "allegedly" infiltrated Iran's Nuclear Enrichment Site - which is secluded on it's own LAN and not connected to the internet in any way or form. - Yet they got the stuxnet virus onto their machines, which targets the machinery control panels to act as if nothing is wrong, but in the background is actually destroying the samples they are trying to enrich. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuxnet)

Thinking - hey I have no internet connection: http://bgr.com/2013/12/30/nsa-remote...eless-network/ they can infiltrate your home wireless 8 miles from where you stay..
That consumer router you using to connect to the internet has backdoors:http://www.reddit.com/r/technology/c...tgear_routers/

Unfortunately if you are using a piece of electronics and the top spy agencies in the world are investigating you- you gonna have a bad time :D

If watch the video you won't be under that impression.what should be a shock is that apple has facilitated a backdoor on the iPhones.

There are also speculation that Google facilitated backdoors for the NSA, but it's besides the point - point being that no communication device is safe. :)

This is scary news but not quite as new as you would think. This has been floating around on the net for years.

Facebook being one of the biggest contributors to this, basically the CIA is there to collect intelligence on as many people as possible. The easiest way to do this is have everyone on the planet give it to them so via facebook the CIA now has enormous amounts of info on people.ie. where they live, what they do, what their interests are, who they are friends with ... you get the point

Ontop of that, the last sensus in the USA, at every house after talking to the house owner, direction and gps coordinates were taken of each house. This means that if there is a threat, they send a cruise missile through your front door. so be good

On this topic, read an article yesterday about a secure phone that is being developed, which should make it NSA proof. All calls and texts etc are encrypted. And I'm sure they'll use encryption standards that are not flawed and supported by the NSA.

The only way to be safe is to revert back to Tin can Telephones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin_can_telephone), unfortunately the harder you try to remain private the harder they will try to get in, we should just let go of the idea that our lives are private, because there is no way to stop or undo what has already been done.

You even have to be cautious of what you post might end up in getting you fired from your job (e.g. defamation of a company you work for is a bad idea, don't rant or vent online).
